Way back in the 1990s..
Our founder Katy Clarke started her Italian adventures before she even placed a foot on a well worn cobblestoned path. Renaissance history studies sparked her curiosity so when she finally arrived in Europe (after a very long journey from Australia), she made a beeline for Italy as soon as she could.
Her first stop was Lake Garda – a place that stole her heart and inspired many Italian trips to come.
Since then Katy has traveled over 40 times to Italy, exploring top to toe with a mission to visit all 20 regions and uncover their untold secrets.

2022 – We take our first groups to favorite spots in Italy
Over many years of travel in Italy we’ve become more passionate about exploring the countryside and small towns away from the main tourist areas. We wanted to share that magic with the world but knew that you need to drive and speak Italian to enjoy the local experiences we cherish. So, we started a tour company – Untold Italy Tours.
Today we visit 8 unique regions of Italy with small groups of 10 guests or fewer and are thrilled to share with them our favorite untold spots across Italy – with more destinations to come.
We’re thrilled that we have many repeat customers. You can read their reviews here.

Katy your recommendations and blog have helped make planning my next trip to Italy so much easier.
I never heard of the Italian Riviera until I read your blog. We have changed our plans to include 4 days in Portofino. I found a small villa right on the shore.
Thank you so much for your help with our trip to Italy.
I thoroughly enjoyed our time in Italy and the lovely hotels you suggested helped tremendously. We loved them all. The views from the terraces, the breakfasts, the position, the service, all great!
