Untold Italy is run by travel entrepreneur and podcast host Katy Clarke and a small team of experienced Italy travel planners, writers, and researchers. Our team has spent many decades traveling in, living in, and learning about different regions of Italy.

What are Italy trip planning services?
Our Italy trip planning services provide personalized guidance to help you plan your trip. At Untold Italy, this means working with an experienced Italy travel planner who helps you make decisions about routes, timing, transport, and priorities, based on how you want to travel.
We offer different levels of support, from one-off consultations to complete itinerary planning. We don’t book for you, but we help you build a travel plan so you can make your booking confidently.
Do you book flights, accommodation and activities?
No, we are not travel agents. We don’t book flights, hotels, or activities. We help you plan and decide, but all bookings are made directly by you.
Can you help me decide what service is right for me?
Yes. Yes. If you’re unsure which level of trip planning support you need, you can contact us at trips@untolditaly.com with a few details about your trip. We’ll help you understand the options and point you toward the service that best fits how you want to travel.
Can I chose my trip planning consultant?
Yes you can book directly via the consultant trip profile on this page. Otherwise we assign trip consultants based on availability and the type of support you need.
All of our consultants are experienced Italy travel planners and work closely together, so you’ll always be in good hands.
Untold Italy App
What is the Untold Italy app?
The Untold Italy app is built for independent travelers planning a trip to Italy. Unlike general travel apps, it focuses on thoughtful guidance rather than endless options, with curated recommendations shaped by years of local knowledge and relationships.
Many of the places and experiences we share aren’t easily found through Google or generic AI tools, because they come from firsthand experience and trusted local connections.
What is included in the free version of the app?
The free version includes planning and packing checklists, a 10-day Italy itinerary for first-time visitors, our Milan guide so you can see how the others work, travel tips, and more.
What is included in the premium version of the app?
Premium access includes travel guides for Rome, Florence, Venice, and the major tourist areas in Italy PLUS the 20 regions of Italy. Each guide covers places to stay, eat, shop, and explore, plus local events. You’ll also get driving and train travel tips, alerts for important events such as transport strikes and access to our full podcast catalogue with filters to help you find the most relevant episodes for your trip.
Who is Zia, the online travel assistant and how does she work?
Zia is our in-app travel assistant. You can ask her general trip planning questions, get help finding information, and explore ideas for your itinerary. She supports your planning but doesn’t replace personalized advice from a human trip planner.
Can Zia plan my whole trip for me?
No. Zia can guide, suggest, and explain, but she doesn’t create full custom itineraries or replace our trip planning services.
How much does the app cost?
The Untold Italy app has a one-time upgrade fee. Pricing is shown clearly in the app before you purchase in USD. The amount will be converted to your currency in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Is the app a subscription or membership?
No. You pay once and get access to the current content and future travel guides for all Italian regions.

Can you help me find a tour guide?
Yes, this is something we can help with as part of our trip planning services. During a consultation, we can recommend guides that suit your interests, travel style, and itinerary. We don’t make introductions or bookings outside of our planning service.
