Frequently Asked Questions
Can't I find all the information I need to plan my Italy trip online?
The internet has no shortage of Italy travel advice however most of it is generic, some of it is outdated, and none of it knows anything about you or your trip. Another issue is volume. Clients tell us they have spent weeks researching and still do not feel confident. That is not a research failure. That is what happens when you are trying to filter thousands of conflicting opinions with no way to know which ones apply to your situation.
What we bring is current, specific, and relevant to your trip. We know which advice from two years ago no longer holds. We know that the answer to “should I rent a car in Tuscany?” depends on where in Tuscany you are going. We know the restaurant that every blog recommends and the one that you are most likely to love. Google can not give you that but our team with over 60 years combined experience living and traveling in Italy can.
I have been researching for months and I am still stuck. How can a 30 minute or one-hour call help?
A call works because you stop filtering thousands of opinions from strangers and talk to an expert who knows Italy well and wants to understand your trip specifically. Our consultants ask the questions that cut to what matters: what kind of traveler you are, and what you are willing to trade off, what your days need to feel like. What takes months to piece together on your own, we can map in an hour.
When in the planning process should I book a call?
Many clients start working with us before they have committed to anything. No flights, no hotels, no itinerary. Just a destination and a rough timeframe. If your trip is a few months away and you have some things booked, that is fine. We work around what is confirmed and fill in the rest.
Where it gets harder is when departure is less than two weeks away. Our own availability may be limited at short notice. In peak season, Italy's options narrow fast: hotels in popular areas fill up, good restaurants book out weeks ahead, site tickets sell out. I have no idea how much a trip to Italy will cost. Can you help?

This is a milestone celebration trip. An anniversary, a honeymoon, a once-in-a-lifetime visit. We do not want to get it wrong.
Nearly a third of our clients are celebrating a major life event. They want their trip to feel considered, not just efficient. The right pace so they are not exhausted by day four. Restaurants that suit the occasion and activities for their group. We will not give you a generic romantic Italy plan. We will ask what the trip needs to mean, and build from there.
We already have our flights and some accommodation. Can you still help?
Yes. Most of our clients come with flights locked in and some hotels confirmed. We work around what you already have, tell you honestly whether the pieces fit together, and fill in the gaps. If something does not work, we will say so and suggest alternatives.
We are worried about transport and getting around. Trains, rental cars, driving abroad. It all feels complicated.
Transport logistics is the most common question we hear, from first-timers and returning visitors. The right answer for your trip depends on where you are going and when. Tuscany with a car is a different trip from Tuscany without one. The Amalfi Coast by rental car in summer is a mistake. City to city, trains often beat flying once you factor in airports. We will sort out what makes sense for your specific route.
We are returning visitors. Italy is not new to us. Can you still add value?
Often the most interesting consultations are with people who already love Italy and know what they do not know. They come with great questions and are ready for the version of Italy that takes a few trips to find. Returning visitors make up roughly half our bookings, and we love sharing a mutual passion for Italy.

Do you make bookings for us?
No. We are not travel agents. We tell you exactly what to book, where, and when. You get specific hotel recommendations, restaurant names worth reserving ahead, transport options with realistic timings, and a clear picture of what needs to be locked in before you go versus what is easy to handle on the ground.
What do you need from us before the call?
You fill in a short form when you book: who is traveling, rough destinations, dates, interests, and what is on your mind. The more specific you are, the better the call will be. Write down the questions you are stuck on. If you have a draft itinerary, share it. We read everything before we speak to you.
Can I pay in my own currency?
Our services are priced in US dollars. We also accept Australian dollars, New Zealand dollars, Canadian dollars, British pounds, and Euros. Email trips@untolditaly.com for a quote in your currency.
