What documents do I need to visit Italy?
Last updated on April 1, 2026
When visiting Italy, make sure your passport is valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure date. Citizens from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and the European Union currently do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days. If you plan to drive, you’ll need a valid driver’s license and an International Driving Permit (IDP). It’s also a good idea to carry a copy of your travel insurance policy. Don’t forget to keep your passport with you at all times for identification purposes.
